Research interests

My research interests center on the methodological development and application of feldspar luminescence. I focus on the investigation of luminescence production in feldspars, where I apply various luminescence techniques and spectroscopy and combine these with mineralogical sample characterisation. I apply this to a range of chemically and structurally different feldspars in order to develop a better understanding of electron (re-)trapping and recombination processes in these minerals.

I am the PI of the research project “Soil and landscape dynamics - Quantifying processes in Earth's Critical Zone”, funded by the VolkswagenStiftung. 

 I'm currently involved in different research projects in Chile, the USA, New Zealand, and South Africa. Within these projects I apply quartz and feldspar luminescence dating to answer geological, geomorphological and archaeological questions.
