Research interests

My research is focused on the investigation of sedimentary and geomorphological archives in coastal areas. The investigation of near-shore archives plays an important role for reconstructing temporal variations of coastal hazards, sea level, or coastline displacement. A major focus is the identification and interpretation of recent and prehistoric tsunami- and cyclone deposits by applying geomorphological, sedimentological, geochemical, palaeoecological and geochronological approaches. The methodological part of my research is particularly concentrated on luminescence dating (see page of the CLL for more information). This application of luminescence dating is integral part in the investigation of coastal sediment archives. In addition to that, I also deal with the improvement of luminescence dating approaches, especially for the application in coastal archives. [Google Scholar Profil; Researcher ID: O-2442-2015]
