Research Interests

Coping and Adaptation strategies to coastal hazards (erosion and flooding), Disaster Risk Management, Climate Change, and Climate Change Policies, Climate Change and sustainable Development in the developing world, mainstreaming Climate Change policies into long term developmental plans, Migration and the networks that influences migration, Social Capital (especially in relation to coping with, and adapting to coastal hazards in Ghana and West Africa), Development, and Governance in the Global South.

Professional Experience

  1. 03/2016 - 09/2016: Internship with the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) - Bonn, Germany.  
    This was between two different units under the Mitigation, Data, and Analysis (MDA) section of the UNFCCC. These are; The National Communications and Support section and the NAMA and Registry Unit.
    Main duties under the National Communications and Support Unit:
    - Supported the National Communications Support Unit, a team supporting countries on capacity-building, national submissions of greenhouse gases inventories and matters of vulnerabilities and   adaptation to climate change
    - Contributed to the work of the NAMA and Registry Unit, a team dedicated to the support of the mitigation actions via the operation of the Nationally Appropriate Mitigation Actions (NAMA) registry, where national mitigation actions and offers of funding support are recorded and matched
    - Support the team to design research work to gather updated information regarding recorded NAMAs in the NAMA registry
    - Supported the management of a questionnaire sent to the registry users and followed up with many respondents
    - Collected, analysed and presented information and data on the status of the recorded NAMAs
    - Helped in different capacity building and communication activities (online training, in-person events, production of technical and promotional materials)
    - Participated in the routine operational support of the NAMA registry
    - Contributed to the work of the NAMA and Registry Unit, a team dedicated to the support of the mitigation actions via the operation of the Nationally Appropriate Mitigation Actions (NAMA) registry, where national mitigation actions and offers of funding support are recorded and matched
    - Actively participate in the activities of the annual Bonn Climate Talks
  2. 2013 to 2014:  Teaching and Research Assistant in the Climate Change Unit of the Department of Geography and Resource Development, University of Ghana - Accra, Ghana
    Main Duties:
    - Conducted tutorials in varied courses relating Climate Change for undergraduate students within the department
    - Supported a faculty professor in the supervision of undergraduate students on their final thesis
    - Assisted my supervisor and his team in their research works which are mostly geography, climate change, and sustainable development related
    - Helped in the conduction, marking and recording of examinations within the department
  3. 2007 to 2009:  Professional teacher, Pusiga Junior High School – Pusiga, Ghana
    Main Duties:

    - Preparation of lesson and teaching notes, and the teaching those lessons as well
    - Organize, graded, and record tests, assignments, and examinations
    - Regular checks on the dressings, health, behaviour, and attendance of students
    - Responsible for the moral up-bringing of students according to the norms of the society
