I am on research leave from 1st October 2023 until 30th September 2025.

I am currently working as a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions PostDoc at the Radiation Physics Division, Department of Physics, Technical University of Denmark (https://orbit.dtu.dk/en/persons/svenja-riedesel).

Research interests

My research interests center on the methodological development and application of feldspar luminescence dating. I focus on the investigation of luminescence production in feldspars, where I apply various luminescence techniques and spectroscopy and combine these with mineralogical sample characterisation. I apply this to a range of chemically and structurally different feldspars in order to develop a better understanding of electron (re-)trapping and recombination processes in these minerals.

I also apply quartz and feldspar luminescence dating to answer geological, geomorphological and archaeological questions. I'm currently involved in diverse research projects in Germany, the Czech Republic, USA, Scotland, Eswatini and Sout Africa.
