Research Interests
I am a postdoctoral researcher in the Soil and Landscape Dynamics – Quantifying Processes in Earth’s Critical Zone project led by Junior Professor Svenja Riedesel and funded by the Volkswagen Foundation. My focus is on weathering-induced changes in feldspar luminescence. I use EMCCD-based imaging to measure luminescence signals from (non-)weathered mineral surfaces. By quantifying luminescence characteristics that evolve during mineral alteration, my work aims to develop a feldspar-based luminescence proxy for weathering intensity. The outcomes can potentially be applied to quantify weathering rates and mineral alterations within Earth’s critical zone.
