Professor Dr. Tony Reimann, formerly of Wageningen University (NL), has been appointed W3 Professor of Physical Geography. Since May 2020, he has been head of the working group for Geomorphology & Geochronology, which is mainly concerned with the question of how physical, biological and anthropogenic processes shape our earth's surface. One of the research priorities of the group is the development of luminescence-based methods for the age determination of sediments and the quantification of soil and landscape processes. The aim is to better understand process relationships in sediment, soil and landscape systems in order to better predict their dynamics in the course of global environmental change. The Cologne Luminescence Laboratory (CLL) is assigned to the working group, which is currently being established.
We are looking forward to many exciting and instructive events and research projects and wish Prof. Dr. Reimann a successful time at our institute.
A warm welcome!
