Arbeitsgruppe Geomorphologie & Geochronologie

Die Arbeitsgruppe für Geomorphologie & Geochronologie befasst sich vor allem mit der Frage wie physische, biologische und anthropogene Prozesse unsere Erdoberfläche gestalten. Ziel ist es, Prozesszusammenhänge in Sediment-, Boden- und Landschaftssystemen besser zu verstehen, um deren Dynamik im Zuge des globalen Umweltwandels besser vorhersagen zu können. Die AG wird von Professor Dr. Tony Reimann geleitet. Professor Reimann wurde zum Mai 2020 nach Köln berufen, die AG befindet sich derzeit im Aufbau.

Ein Forschungsschwerpunkt der AG ist die Entwicklung Lumineszenz-basierter Methoden zur Altersbestimmung von Sedimenten und der Quantifizierung von Boden- und Landschaftsprozessen. Der Arbeitsgruppe ist ebenfalls das Kölner Lumineszenz Labor (CLL) zugeordnet. Des Weiteren beschäftigt sich die AG mit der Entwicklung von neuen Konzepten, Experimenten und Modellen, um Erdoberflächenprozesse zu quantifizieren.
