Earth - Evolution at the dry limit (SFB 1211)

Landscapes in Transition - formation, degradation and regeneration of dust-desert landscapes

Research interests

Geoscientific Focus

  • Formation and evolution of hyper-arid Earth surfaces:
    • Processes of dust-desert landscape formation, degradation, and regeneration
  • Geomorphology of the Altiplano and eastern Andean systems:
    • Recent geomorphic processes, anthropogenic influences, climatic controls, and geohazard assessment

Data & Methodology

  • Numerical and computational geomorphology
    • Machine learning-based mapping, terrain analysis, and process modelling
  • Spatial statistics and geostatistical applications in Earth sciences
    • Spatial analysis, pattern detection and classification
  • Design of smart and FAIR research data infrastructures for geoscientific workflows
